It is 30 years since Hans Monderman took the first steps towards creating an alternative approach to traffic calming. Today, the Shared Space concept is gaining acceptance across the globe. Emma Clarke talks to Hans Monderman and to Ben Hamilton Baillie, an urban design and movement specialist leading the development of the concept in the UK.
